Just Chillin'

I am sitting in my house and its so cold. I am trying to resist turning the heat on until the last possible second. So I am chilling and here is Christian ...chillaxing. More vacation pics from OBX coming soon!

Blue

The kids started daycare 2 days a week in the beginning of September. They really needed a social outlet and mommy needed sleep. Our biggest concern at this point since they are 2 and 1/4 is their speech and vocabulary. We really are hoping that being around other kids will help them use words and signs. Its working!!! Kamryn has been resistant to signing and now she is getting into it, signing more and eat appropriately. And out big news is that Christian's official first word is...blue. He loves to point out things that are blue--even cars driving by as he looks out the window. Today he busted out with bye bye though. Bye bye sounds alot more clear than blue, but he loves to say the words that he can. He is also working on green and yellow. I think they both will say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious before mama or dada though. Its okay we are just thrilled that we are starting our vocabulary list.

Lake on Fire

Every July 3rd we head to Conesus lake for the lake on fire. We have been going ever since I can remember first to my Grandparents cottage and now to my parents own cottage. It is something that we all look forward to . I don't have too many pictures this time around because ...well because 2 two year olds are hard to chase around especially when they want to go inside then outside then inside then the park then Christian has to turn on and off every light and ceiling fan in the place. And when the kids are outside the camera is inside, when the kids are outside the camera is inside.

...and they're off. I need to get an action shot camera.

Well we gambled and left so the kids could nap in the car on the way to the lake on fire. Well that didn't work out so well. I really thought they would like the bonfire, the flares and the fireworks though. So I pressed to keep them up and they LOVED it. They were tired from the day so they pretty much relaxed on Grandma & Grandpa's laps and stared at the fire and the fireworks. For being up so late they were so good. It didn't hurt that they were cozy and were fascinated by fireworks and the glow in the dark jewelry that other kids shared with them.

Our plan for the actual 4th of July was more fireworks but because the kids had no sleep and I had to work we just hung out around the house. Dan thinks watching fireworks on TV is the same thing. Uh -NO Dan!

Happy Birthday Girlie Doo & Fussa Buddy !!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my babies!!! Their actual birthday fell on a Saturday so we were able to celebrate on the actual day with a party!! The theme was Mickey & Minnie. It is so hard to come up with a theme that is appropriate for a boy and a girl. They both arent really into the same things right now. Kamryn really loves Mickey Mouse ever since my mom wore a sweatshirt one day with a little picture of Mickey on it. Ever since then she is constantly pointing to Mickey. So Mickey and Minnie it is...

We got an amazing cake from the Dessert Deli. Not only is it cute but it tasted fabulous. It had peanut butter filling and mommy was in heaven.

At the last minute Dan decided he really wanted the kids to have their own cakes so I called the Dessert Deli and they came up with these cupcakes.

Kamryn is saying get these freakin ears off of me!!! Now she wears them around the house all the time.

We were all in for a big surprise when in the middle of the party Kamryn was in the living room Grandma asked Kamryn to bring Grandpa something in the family room to show him and she did--WALKING!!! She walked from the living room thru the kitchen to the family room and she has been walking ever since. Two years in the making to the day. She was waiting for her big debut party!!

Here is the best shot of them together on thier birthday. I took Christian to get his bangs trimmed in the morning and even though I left my bowl at home, somehow we walked away with some form of a bowl hair do. Never again!!

We had pizza and wings and the kids had a ball. They got the BEST presents!! Tricycles, an outdoor climber/playhouse, an awesome table and chair set, outdoor toys, cute clothes, puzzles, Kamryn got her first nightgown and that night when she wore it I felt like she was so much older then 2. She looked like she was about 4 to me. Vicky came thru again with pajamas that matched the birthday theme. Here you can both see their Mickey / Minnie jammies and last year she got them monkey ones.

So Happy Birthday Girlie Doo & Fussa Buddy. Your dad and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us this year. We are hoping to finally hear your voice and some Mommy & Daddies. We can't remember what life was like without you both. You are our sunshines and we love you!!

Dear Kamryn,

So like I have recently talked about I have been blogging for a whole year. One of my first entries was titled Dear Christian. I decided to write that one day just because I found a picture that I loved of him and I and I thought that would be a good post to attach to the picture. I thought in the next day or two I would do the same with Kamryn. Here we are a year later...days before her second birthday and still no list for Kamryn. I just haven't found thee picture. Ridiculous right? I know. So her we go. Kamryn these are the things I love about you:

• You are our "first out" baby. I remember thinking what if I didn't have cute kids and the minute they held you up over the curtain- you melted it all away.
• The way you cried and your mannerisms that you exhibited in the first minutes and hours of your life are still true today.
• In the first year of your life the way that you ate was fierce and no nonsense and determined. Serious business.
• In your second year of life the way you eat is fierce and full of nonsense and still you are determined. You push food away and refuse without even looking at it. Somehow though you know what is junk food and never refuse that. You only like Dino nuggets...no other chicken nugget will do. You are a VERY PICKY eater. I love that you know what you want and what you don't.
• You refused a binky when you were born and somewhere along the way decided to use them and now have one in each fist along with one in your mouth.
• I love the way that you smile every single time I tell you that the monkey says ooh ooh ei ei ah ah. And the same when I sing "here comes the sun"
• When given something to play with or to eat you ALWAYS 100% of the time look at Christian to make sure that things are staying even and fair. I wonder where you get this from?
• You don't show your belly laugh often but when you do it is THE BEST.
• I love that I haven't been able to totally figure out your sense of humor yet. It really is all your own.
• You are so nosy and in public you are in everyones business. There is no denying that you are my daughter.
• When we say goodnight to the animals in your room and I tell you to blow them a kiss instead you just turn and give me a kiss.
• Speaking of kisses, when you were closer to one when you gave your dad and I kisses you used to put your hands on our cheeks and hold our faces. It was the BEST!!.
• No matter how many times you climb on the chair and the table or I tell you to not play in the garbage and no matter how many times I take you away from mischievous behaviors you just smile. I cant even say its a devious smile. Its happened enough times but I really don't think that you understand the word naughty. Christian on the other hand...I think he has the word naughty down.
• You LOVE to draw.
• You love to have things labeled. You will point back and forth from two objects over and over so I can tell you the difference and then onto more objects after that.
• You are in control of yourself at all times. The cautious behavior that you display doing day to day activities is extraordinary. You will be two at the end of the week and although you are capable of walking and know how, your need to be overly cautious holds you back. These words do not even do justice to what I am talking about.
• When you are not in control you try to control others. If you do not like where Christian has his hands, arms, feet etc.. you move them where you want them. Even today as you sat in the shopping cart you kept trying to remove my hands from the handlebar because that was only for your hands...so we sat still.
• Even though in someways you are high maintenance...in other ways you are low maintenance. A nice balance.
• Your curly sweaty bed head. Nothing is cuter.
• The way you always check to see what/who is on your cup.
• The way you crack up at Cooper.
• How you used to be scared of the bathtub but loved swimming.
• Just your little way. You are you...doing things your way on your terms. Your the boss.

Of course the list of the things I love about you is endless. There is stuff that can be added on a daily basis. I cant believe that soon you will be 2. I am so lucky that I get to be your Mommy and so happy that you are my dee dee bug.

Dear Kamryn & Christian

Dear Kamryn and Christian,

I thought it was about time since you are almost two and finally truly enjoying bathtime that we could bump it up a notch and breakout the bubbles. I thought you would really love them. This is the posting where I was going to share with everyone some bubble bath pictures from your very first bubble bath....or not. There are no pictures because there was no bubble bath. You see, I got the tub already with lots of Mr. Bubble and then we brought you guys into the bathtub and once you saw the bubbles-crying and screaming and terror ensued. I tried to just hand you some bubbles and put some on your skin and that was terrible. I tried to just put fearless Christian in the bathtub. All of a sudden you turned into a stiff cat that refused to let go and tried to climb up me as fast as you could. The whole time I tried to drain the bathtub of the bubbles ...still crying. I thought it would be nice end to the Memorial Day of two graduation parties, lots of playing and lots of sunscreen to play in the bubbles...I guess not. We will have to desensitize you guys to Mr.Bubble.

Blogaversary

One year ago today I started this blog. I have love / like relationship with it. I would LIKE to post more often. I would LOVE to post everyday. I think I could find something for everyday if I could just find the time.  

I was just explaining to Dan that I started the blog intending to eventually have it bound into a book so it could be somewhat of a scrap book. I was trying to explain that I was tossing around the idea of starting a "private blog" . Not making this blog go private but starting a whole other one. One where I could put anything on and no one would question my decisions. Decisions like finding an entry that says : May 8th 2009-We are finally bottle free!! Cause 22 months is late in the game to stop bottles. Or one that I could write an entry for Kamryn and Christian to tell them what their crazy nicknames were. So I tossed that idea around for awhile and I thought. Its already late May and I have posted nothing this month. Do I have time to maintain two blogs? I dont. If I went to two blogs would I concentrate more on the private one and neglect the exisiting one? Who knows. So I have decided to just stick with the one and maybe change the format a little. For the second year of blogging, its just going to be mine. Well mine and yours. We will have to share. Somethings I will write cause I want you to know. Somethings I will write really just for our family cause it was important to us and maybe I just wanted to remember the date. Something I will write because I want Kamryn and Christian to know in the future. I think those will be Dear Kamryn and Dear Christian. I just don't want to have to worry about what other people think with this -this one thing in my life. Worrying about what other people think is kinda draining sometimes. So with this I am letting it go. I am going barenaked blogging.  So take what you want and leave the rest. If you think somethings aren't the norm or are crazy, well I just don't care cause I am writing for me now.
