Random

On Sunday we went to Darien Lake with Dan's niece Donna and her husband Kevin. We had a G*R*E*A*T time . It has been at least seven years since the last time we were there. Anyway Donna and I were riding a ride and Dan and Kevin were hanging out drinking a beer waiting for us. When Dan and I meet up he tells me:

Dan-"A bird landed on my head"

Kelly-"What??"

Dan- " And this lady came up to me"

Kelly-"What did she say?"

Dan-"She said 'There is a bird on your head' "

Did you just say what I think you said?

While at an outside birthday party at a friends house while packing up our things to leave.

Kelly-"Dan, what did you do with that poopie diaper?"

Dan-"Its in my pocket"

Kelly--laughing hysterically

Six on Saturday

Somethings that you might have not known about me:

  1. When I find a new song I love, I play it and play it over and over and until I kill it and then I end up sick of it. My current song that I am killing is "When I Grow Up" by the Pussycat Dolls.
  2. I have to sleep with covers up to my chin no matter what the weather. If I am sweating my butt off, there is still a sheet pulled up to my chin.
  3. I have never ridden a motorcycle and doubt I ever will. I am to afraid I will end up with road rash because I didn't shift my body the right way.
  4. I absolutely hate my handwriting . Is that something you are born with or can you change it?
  5. I am the worst decision maker ever and second guess everything. Today I even second guessed what dessert I ordered.
  6. I love mail. I constantly check for the mailman. My day will be out of whack if Dan gets the mail before I do. If he gets the mail I feel like I still need to check the mail box. I guess I am a teeny obsessive compulsive about the mailbox.

Flashback Friday

For those of you that dont know...this is our Golden Retriever-Cooper. This is my favorite picture of him. He is three in this picture and so it makes flashback friday because he is currently five. Cooper is the very best dog we could have ever hoped for. I cant even put into words how much of an important part Cooper is in our everyday life. Even though he has the majority of his life to live, I think all the time about how our family will never be the same without him. He is so good with the kids, he knows when they are using him for support to stand and that he shouldnt move. He just gives me a look saying you better come over and give me pets for tolerating this. He cant get enough swimming. peanut butter or pets. And he is currently driving me crazy not licking up his treat crumbs like he used to do. He is leaving plenty of residual crumbs for Christian and Kamryn to sample...Yuck. Anyway, I cant get enough of Cooper. I pray everday he is with us for a very long time. He will always be our first baby.

My Alarm Clock

Maybe you saw the title and are thinking I am going to tell the story of a teething baby up at 5am. Nope. This morning my alarm clock was this nasty nasty Charley Horse in my calf. All I could do was scream and twist around. I have never had one of these before and I know that they are common in pregnancy. I can't even imagine. I should have known it would happen because one way to prevent them is to not be dehydrated and I went to bed last night so thirsty. I am lucky that Dan was there to massage it out but I still have the little left over twinge. You know it must have really hurt if I am writing about it. I hope I never wake up like that again.

Dear Christian

You are one year old and there are so many things I love about you. Somethings I just cant get enough of like:

  • The way you shake your head back and forth. At this point you are not saying 'no' you just like how it feels and you are so cute when you do this.

  • The way you bury your face when I say"where is my kiss?" and then you quick turn your head like you are playing a little game.

  • The way you give up and roll over laughing when I am crawling behind you saying "I'm going to get you " and I didn't even reach you yet.

  • The way you start cracking up in the car when your are just by yourself and we are driving along. No one is entertaining you and sometimes you don't have any toys but you will just start cracking up.

  • The way you are starting to display a fiery little temper. I am not looking forward to the tantrums, but I love that you are forming your own opinions.

  • The way you have your own little routine and crawl to all the same spots when you are on the loose in the house.

  • The structured way you tap your fingers on the window, your head and any other hard surface. Only the middle three fingers flexed to create your own personal little drumbeat.

  • The fact that anytime and any place you are ready to cuddle up.

  • The way you bite my chin over and over and over.

  • The way you reach for my keys with your expression like"gimme my keys"

  • The way you created your own peek a boo game in the pack and play.

  • The way you splash around in the pool and pay absolutely no attention to anything else except the water.

  • That you are fearless except in moving elevators. You are fine when we go in the elevator but as soon as you get the funky change of gravity feeling, there is terror in your face.

  • The way you throw your bottle when you are done with it, showing it who is the boss.

  • The way you re discover everyday how to jump or bounce up and down. Its like you forget you can do this every night and are amazed the next day when you figure out that you can jump.
  • The most mischievous smile I have ever seen.
  • The way you get such a kick out of my expression of surprise if I am watching you do something new.
  • The way you look around to see who is watching you do the things you know you shouldn't be doing and you just cracking up.
  • The way you steal Kamryn's binky and put it in your mouth pretending you like binkies too for about a minute til you cant fake it anymore.
I could just go on and on. Christian, I just love every single thing about you and I am so lucky that out of all people in the world I get to be your Mommy.

Hard at Work

Christian and Kamryn are hard at work perfecting their new skills. On Saturday Dan went into the nursery to get the babies and there was Kamryn standing up in her crib. This was the second time ever. The first was the day after their birthday party when she didn't even realize what she had done. But now she is pulling up to stand just about everywhere she goes. But if I dare adjust or turn her feet so she is more comfortable she gets nervous and starts to cry. I guess she feels since she lost her original footing she is all off balance. Kamryn also is starting to clap. Sometimes she brings her hands together and sometimes she flaps them up and down but its all clapping to her.

Christian has been standing for awhile and is so confident with it that now he releases one hand, jumps up and down and does whatever. He has strong muscle control when he wants to get down and crawl and has never gotten hurt to date because he just fell. He is very careful about that. Christian's big news is that he cruises up the stairs. Today he climbed all the stairs twice and went right to the nursery. A few more days of this and I am sure we will not be able to keep him off. I used to be able to put one and the bottom of the stairs and go and get the other one from the nursery. Now I will have to change that because if I put Christian at the bottom and go and get Kamryn, as I am walking down stairs Christian is trying to meet me in the middle. he is something else. Mr. Mischief. I finally found a Mr Mischief t-shirt so he can announce who he is to the world. Christian's current favorite thing is Itsy Bitsy Spider. It is guaranteed to get laughs and mommy and daddy's secret weapon when fighting boo boos and tantrums.

The results are in...

For those of you that have voted in our first poll... Kamryn was the first to get a tooth. I think her bottom right tooth started poking thru on Friday June 13th. I had been diligently checking and not finding anything and on that Friday, Grandma Carroll came over to babysit and was feeding Kamryn as I was getting ready to walk out the door and she said "Kamryn-Is there any teeth in there?" And she said yep I feel one. I was like you do? And lo and behold there was a hard, sharp tooth trying to poke thru. It still hasnt made its full debut yet. And I just assumed that she would get her bottoms first but when we went for her 1 year check up the Dr. found that her top ones were popping thru too. So right now she is cutting three. Besides the fact that now she is having a hard time falling asleep lateley, she is for the most part unaffected. I think in about two months she will have a mouthfull of teeth. Now, when she smiles wide you can see her three teeth. If I could only get a picture... Christian has raised bumps but no visible white yet. Pretty soon though I am sure.
